A very rare and distinctive jersey from England’s 1991–1993 Sevens era, worn during international Rugby Sevens tournaments as the shorter format grew in global prominence. Originally released for the 1991 RWC it was never worn in 15s, eventually, England used this kit in 1993’ Sevens RWC semi final against Fiji at Murrayfield. It is not known if it was used in any other game. England were crowned the inaugural 7s RWC champions after defeating Australia 21-17. The IRB invited the established rugby union nations but also were keen to involve emerging nations in the event, recognising the fact that Sevens was providing the bridge between the developed rugby nations and those whose rugby union traditions were less well established.
